- Atsuta Shrine Festival June 5
Atsuta Shrine regular festival is the most important ceremony among this shrine's Shinto rituals. Imperial messenger also participates on June 5 every year, and it is carried out in Hongu (the main shrine). After The chief priest of Atusta Shrine bows one time to gods, he opens the door of Honden (the main inner shrine). The preparation of food for the gods is offered, and a Shinto prayer by the chief priest starts. After Gohei (staff with plaited paper streamers used in Shinto) is offered, Saimon by Imperial messenger is reported to the gods. The chief priest shuts the door of Honden and, finally Tamagushi-hoten (reverentially offering a branch of the sacred tree) is performed.
