The Linear Chuo Shinkansen will connect Tokyo and Osaka in 67 minutes. Construction work between Tokyo and Nagoya is currently underway. The line to Nagoya was scheduled to open in 2027, but due to Shizuoka Prefecture's opposition to the tunnel construction due to the decreasing flow rate of the Oi River, the opening in 2027 is no longer possible.
