The traditional ceremony performed to Year-end and New Year holidays of Nagoya is introduced. Since it is not confused by worldly desires for a new year,The last 1 time is struck in the new year.Kenchu-ji Temple which Tokugawa Mitsutomo built in 1651,is a family temple of the Owari Tokugawa family. Kenchu-ji's Shourou (a bell towera belfry) was rebuilt in 1787.
Atsuta Shrine is a shrine which deifies Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (a sword as one of the three divine symbols of the Japanese Imperial throne). It is a storied shrine which ranks second to the Ise Shrine in Ise. In order to greet the new year, many visitors visit the shrine at the night of New Year's Eve. The meaning of Hatsumode is praying for the first time in a shrine and a temple in the New Year. In the Atsuta Shrine, more than 2 million worshippers visit at the first three days of the new year.
Since the Linear Chuo Shinkansen Line is due to be opened for traffic in 2027, in the circumference of the Nagoya station, development is progressing. On the other hand, Nagoya City is also the town which was rich in much old tradition.
