Public presentation of The 1 st stage construction portion was performed on May 29, 20013. Construction of The 2 nd stage construction portion also went smoothly after that, and the cover roof of the Omote Shoin (The main hall) portion was removed. Nagoya Castle Tower can be seen now from a the entrance portion.
Hommaru Palace was built as the residence and work room of Tokugawa Yoshinao (The first feudal lord) in 1615. The 1st stage and 2 nd stage construction portion corresponds to it. When Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu was received in audience with the Emperor by Kyoto in 1634, Jorakuden (Residental Hall for Shogun) construction was carried out.
Taimenjo (the reception hall) was a place which Feudal lord and Shogun meet vassals and holds relatives' party. Therefore, Taimenjo is structure more gorgeous than Omote Shoin. In The 2 nd stage construction, Shimogozenjo (main dyningu hall) besides Taimenjo, Kamigozenjo, etc. are rebuilt. The ceiling of Taimenjo is two-step coved ceiling, and it is painted by black lacquer, and gold is stuck. The life of people is drawn on The screen paintings of Taimenjo.
The 2 nd stage construction portion is opened on June 1, 2016. An open ceremony is due to be held at that day. Moreover, Museum shop is also established in Kamidaidokoro in autumn. The inspection passage from the top closed now will also be resumed in April, 2016.
